Bondi Beach

For a real flavor of Sydney, get yourself down to Bondi beach. It's one of the most well-known beaches in the world is now on the State Heritage Register. Its name comes from an Aboriginal word for the sound of the surf but you don't need to be a surfer to enjoy the beach.

Sydney Opera House

Arguably the most famous landmark in Australia, the Sydney Opera House opened in 1973. There's always something on here, with an average of 40 events in the average week. Whatever your interests, there is bound to be something to entertain you with events on history, architecture, culture, photography and food to name but a few.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

Another one of the city's famous sights, Sydney Harbour Bridge was opened in 1932. Be sure to check out the Pylon Lookout. In here, you'll find more information on how the bridge was built. There are inspiring views of Sydney from the top of the bridge but be prepared for a challenging journey to get there if you decide to take part in the BridgeClimb experience. You'll need a ton of enthusiasm to help you make it to the top of the arch but you'll be glad you did when you see the spectacular views.

Sydney Tower Eye

Enjoy stunning views of the city from your vantage point. Feeling brave? Check out the Skywalk attraction. Be warned though -- it's not for the faint-hearted. Walk out onto glass-floored viewing platforms that extend beyond the tower itself.

Australian National Maritime Museum

Even if you're not a huge fan of boats and ships, you'll be fascinated by the exhibits. Learn more about things like Aboriginal fishing methods and the transportation of convicts to Australia. Jump on board the HMAS Vampire, the former Royal Australian Navy destroyer, and see how the crew lived and worked.

Art Gallery of NSW

For a spot of culture, head to the Art Gallery of NSW. Permanent collections focus on Australian, European and Asian art but there are classic Australian paintings here. Guided tours are on offer too.

Circular Quay

All that sightseeing can be hard work so why not head here for a bite to eat and drink? Circular Quay is the hub of Sydney Harbour, with great views of some of Sydney's most famous attractions -- including the Sydney Opera House -- so it's the perfect place to unwind.
